Water Repellent Veggies?
But aren't they supposed to absorb water?? I've always understood that plants benefit from some overhead irrigation (think RAIN) and many, like evergreen trees, take up nutrients through their leaves. This particular veggie (I think it was a brocolli plant) seems to turn water into art by craftily catching and dispersing the water that has landed on it. Perhaps its waxy surface is also a deterrent to bugs and such. One thing for sure, it was a photo opportunity waiting to happen!
