Get some good gardening tips in our next workshop

Sisters Community Garden is offering members and those on our waiting list a free workshop on March 11 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., when we will learn from garden member Nancy Bright how to grow successfully in our challenging environment, when to plant which vegetables, keys to succession planting and tips for frost protection.

Participants can also opt to take part in a hands-on opportunity led by Mimi Schafer on how to make garden cloches out of simple materials. Cloches can protect young plants from the cold spells we often see at the beginning of the season.

The workshop is free, but those choosing to make a cloche are asked to bring $5 to cover the cost of the materials, as well as scissors and wire cutters if you have some. Everyone is asked to bring a camp chair.

Attendees will receive a copy of the OSU Master Gardeners booklet ”Growing Vegetables in Central Oregon“ along with handouts tailored to gardening at Sisters Community Garden.

All participants are asked to RSVP by March 9, and to specify if they want to make a garden cloche. Please RSVP by email to sisterscommunitygarden@gmail.com
